Crest Factor

Power Control:
Sets the ideal power for each type of speaker, reaching musical power peaks and keeping the sound dynamics.

Intelligent High-Precision Limiting System

The ground limiter limits the musical power on the same level as the RMS power, thus taking profit of the audio dynamics and making us feel that the sound is "flattened". These limiters do not allow you to use such an important speaker characteristic which is their huge musical power.
.
The Studio R Heavy-Duty allows you to set the precise power to send to the speakers, managing to reproduce up to double the sound pressure at the peaks without impairing the music integrity, protecting the speakers and making the best use of the system power. See the below comparison chart:

..ground limiter:

Common limiter curve
Common limiter curve detail

This curve shows the traditional limiter "flattening" the music peaks on the same level as the RMS power, as it is not able to assess the speakers musical power. Note in the curve enlargement (above, right) that the music highest levels are flat and do not build up much power, that is, they are distorted.

..Crest Factor Studio R:

Pure sound

Crest Factor limiter curve
Crest factor limiter curve detail

This is the same previous musical curve, this time limited by the Crest Factor system, assessing the musical peaks from the musical program integration. Note in the curve enlargement (above, right) that the music highest levels reach double the RMS power and keep dynamic and pure, with no flattening whatever.

See below the details about how to set the power of your Heavy-Duty:
  1. Connect the equipment to the power line.

  2. Turn on the power switch on the front panel.

  3. Set the gain controls on the amplifier front panel to the closed position, which is the minimum on the counterclockwise direction.

  4. Attention: Do not place speakers on the amplifier outputs, during the setting. This will not be necessary. Inject a 1-Volt and 1-kHz signal into the R input of the ADL module to set the power of the amplifier right channel. Now place a voltmeter on the alternating current scale between the output terminals of the amplifier R channel. After doing this, then turn the R gain control of the amplifier front panel in order for the output voltage indicated on the voltmeter to match the desired power. See the table below:

Now do the same as to the L channel. It is ready.

Note: For an increased safety, we can lock these front panel positions with a locking manufactured by us. Order over the telephone  (011)-5531-6736, with Edgar.

When we use speakers in parallel on the amplifier output, the amplifier output voltage should be set based on the individual power in Watts RMS of each speaker we are using, and according to the above Power / Voltages table.

Example.
On the amplifier output there is a single 250-watt speaker. We should seek in the table the voltage corresponding to 250 W, which is 44.7 Volts, and do the setting.
.
In another example, if we are to place two 250-W speakers in parallel, or even 3 or 4 speakers in parallel, we must seek that same value corresponding to only one of the speakers, that is, 250 W / 44.7 V, and set the amplifier output to the same 44.7 Volt value.
.
The amplifier will automatically send a maximum 250 Watts to each one of the speakers.
.
The total output power will vary according to the number of speakers added,
and it will be 500 Watts in case of two speakers, 750 Watts for three speakers, or 1000 Watts if we add maximum 4 speakers. In all instances, a maximum 250 Watts will be ensured per channel.
